| At the invitation of the Japan-China Friendship Centre, Hunan Kunqu Opera Troupe paid a visit in Japan for the 19th Chinese Culture Festival from Oct. 23 to Nov. 11. The troupe gave performances of several classic plays of Kunqu Opera LED light ribbon such as “Stopping the Horse”, “The Peony Pavilion” and “Fighting at the Temple Gate”, etc., which won round after round of applauses of Japanese audiences. This event has been listed in the “Tokyo Culture Festival 2009” jointly held by the Embassy of the P.R.C in Japan and the air compressor Ministry of Culture. As the only Kunqu Opera troupe performing in the Chinese Culture Day, Hunan Kunqu Opera Troupe seized the opportunity of “excellent culture going-out”. Under the sound organization of the Culture Bureau of Chenzhou City, the troupe selected the plays with distinct characteristics of Kunqu Opera and Chinese culture. All of the 13 actors for the performance have won state or provincial level awards. During the over 10-day visit, Hunan Kunqu Opera Troupe gave 9 performances in Tokyo, Moka of Tochigi Prefecture and Ehime Prefecture of Shikoku, and held 3 exchange activities, which attracted more than 5000 audiences. |
